Palm Tree LLC (“Palm Tree”), the modern M&A advisor providing integrated investment banking and financial consulting services to middle market businesses, today announced Michael Schall as a strategic industry advisor on the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and Food & Beverage (F&B) industries for its investment banking operations.
Mr. Schall will utilize his more than four decades of leadership experience in branded and natural foods, food technology, emerging brands, and retail grocery merchandising to aid in the growth of Palm Tree’s CPG and F&B related investment banking activities. He will advise Palm Tree’s efforts at servicing this critical industry, work to strengthen its relationships and connections with companies in this saturated market, and help the firm source relevant transaction mandates in the wide-reaching sector.
“Michael is uniquely qualified to advise on growth efforts within this comprehensive industry, given his extensive experience within CPG and F&B-focused operations spanning over 40 years. We look forward to the industry insight he can provide for the firm as we continue to pursue our business evolution and transformational goals in these highly competitive market segments,” said Stephen Rossi, Senior Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at Palm Tree.
Mr. Schall was recently appointed Senior Managing Director of the Costa Rica-based family office of Nacascolo Holdings. He previously served as President of Pod Foods, an asset-light disruptor to traditional wholesale grocery distributors. Prior to Pod Foods, Mr. Schall was Managing Director and co-leader of the Food & Beverage practice at FocalPoint Partners (now B. Riley), a premier Los Angeles-based middle market investment banking firm, and Senior Global Growth and Business Development Coordinator at Whole Foods Market, the nation’s largest natural foods supermarket retailer.
“I am honored by the opportunity to advise Palm Tree on driving growth and maintaining forward momentum for its CPG and F&B investment banking practice,” said Mr. Schall. “This is a vast industry with many constituent parts, requiring specialized knowledge and well-placed relationships to most effectively harvest the dealmaking opportunities that comprise the F&B ecosystem—literally from field to fork. I am pleased with the commitment Palm Tree has shown toward enhancing its investment banking operations and look forward to lending my expertise to further assist in their efforts.”
Mr. Schall earned his MBA in Marketing from The University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and graduated from California State University in Los Angeles with a BS in Marketing. He serves as a board member of Good Planet Foods, Arlington Valley Farms, The Sugarman of Vermont, and on the advisory boards of Shelf Engine, LiveMore Organics, and Better Sour. He is also a partner at Meaningful Partners, a Senior Advisor to Conscious Capitalism, and an operating adviser for Graham Partners.
