Brit Terrell leads the Palm Tree Capital Markets service line, which helps clients navigate corporate finance, leveraged acquisitions, and corporate debt restructuring.
A middle-market corporate finance professional with a focus on leveraged acquisitions and corporate debt restructuring, Mr. Terrell has been underwriting, structuring, closing, and managing credit line portfolios for over three decades. He has worked on both the borrower and lender sides of transactions.
Mr. Terrell was the founder of Backbone Capital Advisors, a capital markets financing advisory boutique specialized in private debt and equity capital raises for buyouts and recapitalizations. After 12 years of leading Backbone Capital, the firm was acquired by Palm Tree in 2023 and Mr. Terrell was named to lead its capital markets service line.
Prior to Backbone he was Head of Capital Markets at The Gores Group, where he arranged and managed $2 billion worth of acquisition debt financings and recapitalizations for the firm’s private equity fund. Throughout his career, Mr. Terrell has worked on both the borrower and lender sides. Prior to The Gores Group, he was underwriting manager at Wells Fargo Foothill and closed approximately $1 Billion in commitments.
A member of ACG (the Association for Corporate Growth), Mr. Terrell regularly participates in discussion panels at finance conferences. He holds a BA in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with an emphasis in Accounting.
Britt and his wife of 30+ years are proud their sons are healthy, grown and self sufficient as an engineer and a professional musician. An avid outdoor enthusiast year around, Britt can be found trail running Backbone trail and other LA trails, road biking, mtn biking, and in the winter skiing/snowboarding. And of course, the family is deep into music including following his sons bands. He is always up to take new friends out on the trails!
Britt is president of a non-profit associated with UC Santa Barbara that is influential with its undergrad members and has funded meaningful philanthropy under his leadership over the past 30 years.
