Mr. Cunningham is a Senior Managing Director at Palm Tree and brings over 30 years of experience leading and advising on complex M&A transactions, providing financial and operational insights to private equity and corporate clients.

Mr. Cunningham has supported more than 500 transactions globally, including buy‑side and sell‑side diligence, carve‑outs, cross‑border deals, and financial and operational diagnostics. His work spans multiple sectors, including industrial products, manufacturing, chemicals, healthcare, consumer products, services, logistics, and technology.

John possesses expertise across all major components of transaction advisory services, including financial due diligence, sensitivity analysis, working capital optimization, performance and controls diagnostics, valuation driver assessment, and post‑deal strategies.

Prior to joining Palm Tree, John was a Partner at a Big Four firm, both in the US and Brazil, leading transaction advisory services across the US and Latin America for over 25 years. He has also served in corporate finance roles with KPMG and held a financial management role for an international NGO, Concern Worldwide, in Mozambique.

John is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. ​
